How Are My Stickers Doing?
Stickers take up a big presence in my Etsy Shop. They have been there since the start, and, fun fact: they were the first item that sold when I first opened my shop (Someone ordered my Mushroom Sticker Pack!).
Stickers will always have a place in my shop. They are very easy to produce and design for manufacturers. I love making them because they are manageable to add and come in various shapes. I only offer three types of stickers: Weatherproof Matte, Glossy, and Water Resistant.
I used to offer matte and clear matte, but after some testing and analyzing, I realized that clear matte was a bit too much to deal with (at least at the moment), and with matte stickers, not many people want matte stickers (at least in my audience) so I did phase them out to save money. It’s been a while since I last reflected on my stickers, and I thought now would be a good time to do that since another year for my Etsy Shop is almost here. So here are some updates on my stickers:
Glossy Stickers: Now, I do like my glossy stickers. However, making them, at the moment, is a pain. The software I use to make stickers went through an update, and for some reason, my cutting machine now has trouble reading resignation lines for glossy paper, which is annoying. So annoying that I thought about outsourcing my glossy stickers (😅 but I have a budget to think about, so I can’t do that yet). So, I will just deal with this minor nuisance for now. I can still make glossy stickers; it just takes a while.
However, due to this tiny problem, I will no longer offer sticker sheets in the glossy option. Sticker sheets are different to do than single stickers and come with more error risk than single stickers. If sticker sheets mess up, I have to discard them (to be at a discount or be freebies). It’s dishearting to find errors in sticker sheets. So to reduce the risk, I am only sticking with weatherproof matte sticker sheets since they are the easiest to make.
Holographic Stickers: As I mentioned in section 1, I have a budget to keep in mind. However, I would like to add some holographic stickers to my shop! I think some designs would look great with holographic over them. So, I started mini savings to purchase holographic stickers from a manufacturer or get the supplies needed to make them at home. As I said, I am looking forward to adding these types of stickers, so I hope that the savings fill up quickly!
Cultural Base Stickers: If you didn’t know, I am Akimel O’odham (Native American), and I love turning aspects of my tribe and culture into art. In my shop, you can find dozens of artworks, from stickers to cards to prints, that revolve around my culture. When I was looking through my shop, I noticed that I have more cultural art prints than stickers, and I thought I should start adding more cultural stickers to my shop. Stickers are a low price item, and I felt it would be nice to have more Native American items available at a low price, as a good handful of my O’odham art items are in the mid to high price range. So this summer, I will try to develop more cultural base stickers!
Water Resistant Paper: Finally, I am switching my water-resistant sticker paper. You probably won’t notice the switch between the paper, but I just thought that you should know. The previous paper had nothing wrong with it, it just was a different size (A4) than my regular sticker paper, and it created an extra step in the sticker-making process. When adding up the time, that extra step made making stickers longer than needed.
So, to cut out that extra step, I switched to letter-size sticker paper. So yeah. This section is more behind-the-scenes and probably does not impact you in any way.
Anyways, that is an update on anything sticker related. I have some plans set up for adding new stickers. I have some things to figure out regarding my sticker-making process. Overall, I’m excited to see the new upcoming stickers (whatever they may be).
